Painting on location - Painted Turtle Gallery

"Creativity is so delicate a flower that praise tends to make it bloom, while discouragement often nips it in the bud. Any of us will put out more and better ideas if our efforts are appreciated." -Alexander Osborn

On Saturday, May 16th, I was painting on location at the Painted Turtle Gallery in Creston, BC. To those of you who came in to see me, a very special "thank you". The following is the painting I started while in the is still in progress.

Pears and their blossoms and of course...a rock. I am using Daniel Smith Prima Tek paints on this rock. Some of the colors used are: Green Apatite Genuine, Blue Apatite Genuine, Bronzite Genuine, Burnt Sienna, Q.Gold,Soldalite Genuine, Indanthrone Blue and my *newest color... Amethyst Genuine. Hmmm....very interesting grayed purple with lot's of sparkle from the pure minerals in it.

Now to find the time to finish this one! At this time of year there is so much yard work to be done. Weeding, edging, planting, cleaning and setting up decks. Not to mention taking the time to set-up and photograph as the spring blossoms come into bloom. My tulips and daffodils are fading. Lilacs are just starting to blossom.

So this morning found me photographing a set-up with lilacs and tulips. Now it's back to yardwork. At the end of the day, when one sits back and enjoys the view.....It is all worth it!

"Nature's own masterpieces will never go away. If I am able to cast just a few of them in favorable light, and convince you, the viewer, to look at them again with greater appreciation and perhaps a fresh perspective, then I have succeeded as an artist." -Scott L. Christensen

Enjoy you day! Till next time...
Laura Leeder
