In Pursuit Of Fish - A short break from painting

"May the holes in your net be no larger than the fish in it." -Irish Blessing

A Holiday at last! Ivor & I finally managed to get away for a long awaited camping/fishing trip. Below are a few pictures from our trip.

Kootenay Lake Ferry -Crawford Bay crossing to to Balfour Landing. We are heading to Summit Lake Provincial Camground.

"There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind."
~Washington Irving

Just like is all about color co-ordination. Red on red....and.... showing off my new fishing rod! The question is ......will they bite?!

Enjoy thy stream, O harmless fish; And when an angler for his dish,
Through gluttony's vile sin, Attempts, the wretch, to pull thee out, God give thee stregth
O gentle trout, To pull the rascal in!" ~John Wolcot

This little rascals name is Kenya....our beloved fishing guide.

"Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers." ~Herbert Hoover

My partner and fishing buddy....Ivor.

"There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home."
~Roderick Haig-Brown, Fisherman's Spring, 1951

C`mon mom! You can do it...reel in that fish! Now this is fun! .....

"Creatures can win their place without even uttering a word." -Unknown more loop...

I just had a hit....

Wow! Look at those fish jumping....

Let's just try over there!.....

Just five more minutes.....

All in all, was a relaxing holiday....fisrt time at this lake/campground, will certianly go again!

With just 35 sites....the campsite is small and intimate....plenty of trees & shrubs between sites allowing for privacy. Managers, Jim & Deb run a very clean & personable operation.

Although the fishing was slow... the weather was great...albeit....a bit too hot at times...hence, much of the time was spent on or in the water....either fishing or floating in our lounge chairs.

ps. A special thanks to Jon Huston.....who came from Edmonton, AB and looked after our home, allowing us to take some time out to play.

Now it's back to work.....or should I say painting.....which is more fun than it is work.....updates of new painting steps in the next few days....

Till next time......Artist Laura Leeder
