Chrysanthemum's - Watercolor Painting by Laura Leeder

"Just living is not enough....One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower."         ~Hans Christian Anderson

Chrysanthemum's - A Bowl Of Pure Happiness
    Laura Leeder, Watercolor, Feb.2012

This painting is finally finished.  I took over a week to study it and made a few small adjustments.  I must confess that glazing all those layers of yellow, orange, and red was challenging.  The experience was worth it, and overall, I'm happy with this painting!

The Chrysanthemum is called the Flower of Happiness, and was so revered in Japan, that only the nobles could grow it.  It has been grown over 2,000 years throughout  the far east.

Did you know that Chrysanthemums are used in tea for medicinal purpose?  The flower is also considered a natural source of insecticide and has been proven to reduce indoor air pollution.

This special flower represents cheerfulness, optimism, rest, truth, long life and joy.  Quite impressive!

Giclee' Prints of this painting coming soon.....
Not sure about the title....any other suggestions?

Wishing you a day filled with happiness,
