Art Show-A Kootenay Summer-Opens Today, Key City Theater, Cranbrook, BC

"There is a wonderful feeling when you walk into your own exhibition. You see the work as a true extension of yourself. Win or lose, your interests have led you to an accumulation of your personal expression, signed lower right, mounted to best advantage."   ~Robert Genn

A Kootenay Summer....opens today at the Key City Theatre Gallery in Cranbrook, BC.

We hung the paintings for this show on Monday and it was so exciting and rewarding  to see the results of our "labor of love" finally come together.  Each artist's vision is beautifully showcased in their own unique style and medium.

"A Kootenay Summer" is a colorful and joyful representation of a summer in the koot's!

All 4 artists will be in attendance today from 4 to 6pm, we hope you can join us!

My Newest Painting Celebrates Roses, Tomatoes And Summers Past

"Love is to the heart what the summer is to the farmer's year.... it brings to harvest all the loveliest flowers of the soul."  ~unknown

What a great feeling it is to have finally completed the last painting for the upcoming Art Show, "A Kootenay Summer" at the Key City Theatre, Cranbrook, BC.

Summer Harvest celebrates my love of roses and the first ripe tomatoes of the season.  My mouth waters in anticipation of that first bite into a juicy ripe tomato. There is nothing quite like it!  And of course the scent of these delicate roses as they waft through the house.  For me, there is sheer pleasure in entering a room with a bouquet of fresh cut roses sitting serenely  in an old and cherished vase; or in this case, a beautiful crystal vase that sparkles in the light.  It makes an ordinary day feel special and creates simple, happy memories of summers past.

If you had to choose, would it be a bouquet of roses from the garden or a bowl of home grown tomatoes?   But then really, why choose when you can have them both?!

For now, I am happy to wait for springs first bulbs to bloom in my garden.
Have yourself a great weekend,
