©Lady Of The Woods ~ Silver Birch,
Commissioned Watercolour Painting~SOLD
By Laura Leeder, December 2013
This painting was a commissioned piece that I worked on last month as a Christmas Gift from a husband to his wife. This teacup is part of the full china set that belonged to his mother-in-law who recently passed away. The set will be handed down to his daughter and the painting given to his wife in loving memory of her mother. *This is one of the more challenging patterns that I have tried to replicate in a teacup painting, I hope I have given it justice.
This pattern was created by Aynsley China from England in the 1930's and discontinued in December of 2001. Betula pendula or Silver Birch~ Was one of the first trees to regenerate itself after the Ice Age. Its branches and stems arch gracefully giving it an elegant appearance, hence the name Lady of the Woods.
Throughout England, Scotland and all of Europe there is much mythology surrounding the Silver Birch. One of the many widely accepted symbols of Silver Birch is that of renewal and purification. The Lady Of The Woods ~ Silver Birch, is also said to be the symbol of unconditional love.
