Welcome Spring!

"And Spring arose on the garden fair, like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast rose from the dreams of its wintry rest."    ~Percy Bysshe Shelley

Five Maids Of Spring, March 21, 2014

"Springtime is the land awakening.  The March winds are the morning yawn."

Spring is finally here and I'm celebrating it's arrival with this bold, colorful painting that showcases the beauty and simplicity of these tall, stately maids of spring.   They are one of the world's most beloved flowers, and with so many varieties and colors to choose from, tulips are quite simply ~ pure delight!

It's been said that tulips are like a favorite pair of jeans, they represent comfort and coziness.  I certainly agree!  And these pink ones especially, remind me of confident, young maidens, happily dancing in the early morning breeze as they beckon in Spring!

HAPPY SPRING everyone!

I hope your weekend is filled with sunshine, happiness, a big bouquet of tulips and if the spirit moves you, a little dancing as well!

Laura - these tulips seem to be a little different from your usual work. They are lovely and definitely seem to be dancing.

Nice to paint in a different style once in awhile. That light background caught my eye right away. Like it.

Wonderful, bold take on tulips here! The fine black outlines lend a stained glass look. The "coloured in" parts still showcase your incredible use of colour washes!
